The Indiana Pacers have made it further than most people thought they would.
Granted, they faced an injured Milwaukee Bucks team in the first round and an exhausted and gassed-out New York Knicks in the second round.
However, that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve credit for getting the job done.
If anything, they also made it to the In-Season Tournament’s final, so perhaps they’re better than most analysts thought.
Even so, for whatever reason, Draymond Green still refuses to give them their flowers.
In the latest edition of his podcast, Green was unapologetic about his skepticism of the Pacers, stating that ‘someone had to get to the Conference Finals’ because ‘it’s the East’ (via The Volume & ClutchPoints).
“I still personally think [the Pacers] are an 82-game team. But I didn’t think the Knicks [were] real… It’s a totally different animal. I got Boston… [It] should be a gentleman sweep.”

Green said that he still thinks the Pacers are an 82-game team, adding that he never thought the Knicks were real, which is why he wasn’t impressed about their defensive effort or their win.
Now, he believes the Boston Celtics are a different animal, so he predicts a gentleman’s sweep in favor of Joe Mazzulla’s team.
Coming from a player who knows what it’s like to be counted out, doubted, and criticized, this doesn’t sound like the wisest take from Green.
Of course, the Celtics have the best roster in the game, and the East isn’t nearly half as tough as the West, but teams don’t make it to the Eastern Conference Finals out of sheer luck.
