The Boston Celtics just recently won their 18th title in franchise history by beating the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals 4-1.

That coincidentally is now the NBA record, as well.

Veteran forward Sam Hauser recently joined GoJo and Golic to chat about how head coach Joe Mazzulla was able to motivate this Celtics team to win it all.

“He’s a unique human being…He showed us this one video one time of Orca Whales and how they hunt. The message was we can’t do it alone. We gotta do it together to attack our prey,” Hauser said.

Being able to motivate your players is an art.

You can’t just look up an inspirational movie scene and expect your players to get fired up.

Great coaches inspire their team by teaching them a lesson through a subject or through an activity that is somewhat new to them.

It is safe to say that not many teams watch videos of whales and end up being champions.

Mazzulla was able to use these animals to bring his team closer together.

Great coaches have a reason for everything that they do.

Since taking over as the team’s head coach in 2022, Mazzulla has guided the Celtics to a record of 121-43.

That is a winning percentage of 73.8%.

This season, he and his team were able to close the deal and become champions after exiting in the Eastern Conference Finals a year ago.

They did it in dominant fashion, which is why some of the credit has to belong to some of the Orcas.
