Over the past few years, the Boston Celtics have been incredibly close to winning that elusive 18th NBA title and breaking the tie with the arch-rival Los Angeles Lakers for the record for championships won in the league.
Fortunately for Boston, everything came together ahead of the 2023-24 NBA season, with the team putting together a roster that was unmatched, as Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown were able to step up their game and lead the storied franchise to another title.
After making easy work of Luka Doncic’s Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals, beating Jason Kidd’s squad in five games, the Celtics were NBA champions for the first time since 2008 and were officially dubbed the cream of the crop in the league once again.
Interestingly enough, after officially being crowned the championships, Boston’s brass let it be known that the team is now up for sale, as it could be argued that the team’s value will never be higher, especially if the team continues to be a perennial title contender moving forward.
With the Celtics being the hottest team in the league right now, Eric Fisher of Front Office Sports believes that the sale of his storied franchise will break an NBA record.

The Phoenix Suns recently set the bar high by selling to new owner Matt Ishbia for $4 billion, which the Celtics will almost certainly surpass and probably by a wide margin with another billion or two added onto the final price.
It’ll be interesting to see how much the defending champions go for and if other teams go up for sale in the aftermath.
