Making Team USA is an honor reserved for nothing but the creme of the crop of the NBA.
One could make a case for Derrick White and maybe even Jrue Holiday not being quite there yet, but their games fit perfectly for FIBA basketball, so they might be two exceptions.
One could also argue that Jaylen Brown had some credentials to make the team, and him being selected would’ve been as fair as it would’ve been logical.
Then again, it’s not like he’s a superstar or they were snubbing Stephen Curry or LeBron James.
That’s why some people don’t buy Brown’s narrative or conspiracy theories as to why he didn’t make the team; he just didn’t.
At least that’s how Doug Gottlieb feels.
Talking on his show on FOX Sports Radio, Gottlieb claimed that the fact that Jayson Tatum didn’t even react to Brown being snubbed spoke volumes about why he wasn’t even selected.
Jayson Tatum’s reaction to Jaylen Brown’s Team USA snub says it all:
@GottliebShow: “Sometimes the truth is just the truth. There’s no conspiracy theory here. You’re just hard to deal with. That’s Jaylen Brown. ” pic.twitter.com/hndyS19nGJ

He compared his situation with Isiah Thomas and the Dream Team, stating that Thomas had all the credentials to be there, but everybody else on the team — not just Michael Jordan — couldn’t stand him.
Grant Hill also saying that they were just trying to build the best team reveals that they just don’t feel Brown would be a good fit for the culture, adding that he might be tough to deal with.
Truth be told, this isn’t the first time reports of this kind have surfaced.
Also, if Thomas, a legitimate superstar and top 3 player in his position at the time — and arguably top 5 ever — didn’t make the team, Jaylen Brown can most definitely sit this one out and it shouldn’t even be a story.
