The 2024 Summer Olympics are well underway, and after some concerns about their play leading up to the games, Team USA’s men’s basketball squad seems to be firing on all cylinders.

They played exceptionally well in their opening matchup against a Nikola Jokic-led Serbia team, and they blew past South Sudan in their second game.

Their next test will be against Puerto Rico, a game that will take place on August third.

While their on-court output has yielded two wins, there is some off-court drama that has dominated the conversation over the past few days.

Jayson Tatum didn’t play a single minute in their victory over Serbia, a move that turned heads, and seemed to get under Tatum’s skin.

He made a few public comments about his snub in their opening game, and, sure enough, he was in the starting lineup for the matchup against South Sudan.

This was a frustrating development for some people, including Doug Gottlieb, who made his feelings heard in a recent segment on FOX Sports Radio.

“How it reads to me is Jayson Tatum seems like a colossal pain,” Gottlieb said.

Gottlieb was less-than-impressed by Tatum’s antics in the media, tired of hearing a star complain about minutes in an international competition.

He seemed to take issue with Tatum talking about his resume, which includes being a 2K cover athlete and an NBA champion.

In Gottlieb’s mind, international games like the Olympics are a way for a team to come together for their country, not to try and make the whole thing about themselves.
