The Boston Celtics took down the Dallas Mavericks in the 2024 NBA Finals, earning their 18th banner and finally proving they’re the best team in the league.
According to Boston’s biggest star Jayson Tatum, fans should expect a rematch in 2025.
While talking to Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show”, via NBACentral, Tatum was asked who would appear in next season’s Finals.
After quickly saying the Celtics would get to the championship, Tatum thought long and hard about a potential opponent.
Fallon pressured him and he came up with an answer: “It’s going to be a rematch. We’re going to play Dallas again.”

It’s no surprise to hear Tatum say his Celtics will return to the Finals next season.
In fact, he’s not the only one who feels that way and many analysts and betting sites predict they will battle for back-to-back titles.
His prediction of Dallas also returning will raise some eyebrows, however.
Many people were surprised to see them get that far last season, especially with such a crowded and competitive Western Conference.
But the Mavericks were able to push past some truly intimidating opponents during the playoffs.
Yet, everyone agrees those opponents will be tougher in the new season.
Some teams like the Memphis Grizzlies and New Orleans Pelicans will be better in 2024-25, plus the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves will always be a threat.
At the same time, the Mavericks added a few important pieces to their roster in the summer, including Klay Thompson.
The thought of the Celtics and Mavericks going back to the Finals isn’t far-fetched but it’s certainly not guaranteed.
