The Boston Celtics don’t know who they will be playing against in the upcoming Eastern Conference Finals, but they do know they will start the series without one of their most important stars.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, via Legion Hoops, Kristaps Porzingis is likely out for the start of the Eastern Conference Finals.
The talented big man hasn’t been on the floor since April 29 while dealing with a calf injury.

Although Porzingis will miss at least the first two games of the series, there is still optimism that he will be back before the end of the series barring any sort of setbacks.
He has been making progress in his recovery and has been spotted on the practice court putting up shots but apparently, he hasn’t been making enough progress.
The Celtics were able to put down the short-handed Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers without Porzingis but there has been hope that the center would be ready to perform at the start of the Eastern Conference Finals.
The 7-foot-3 star has averaged 20.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per game in the regular season and is a crucial part of the team’s offense and defense too.
Since Porzingis has been out, Al Horford has gotten more time on the court and has been playing very well.
But with his age and his own history of injuries, the Celtics aren’t trying to work Horford too hard or else they could be short two big men.
The East Finals are set to begin on Tuesday and Thursday in Boston and their opponent will be decided this Sunday when the Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks face off for Game 7.
