The 2023-24 Boston Celtics were always expected to win the NBA championship.
Nonetheless, we’ve seen teams that were supposed to dominate on paper crumble under pressure multiple times.
This team, in particular, had plenty of skeptics and doubters, as they had a reputation for falling short when it mattered the most.
Perhaps that’s why some fans and analysts refuse to give them their flowers despite their utter dominance throughout the course of the season.
With that in mind, ESPN analyst Mike Greenberg put together a list of five reasons why this Celtics team was one of the most dominant we’ve ever seen, presenting it on Wednesday’s edition of Get Up.

For starters, the Celtics held a 20-point lead in 50 of 101 games, including playoffs, and that speaks volumes of how much they blew out their opposition.
At No. 4, he pointed out the fact that the Celtics had 15 more wins than any other team in the league, including the playoffs.
Then, he talked about them being just the 14th team to win at least 80 games in a single season, including the playoffs.
Greenberg later referred to their impressive +10.7 points differential, which was the fifth-best in NBA history.
Last but not least, he talked about the fact that Joe Mazzulla’s team finished the campaign with the most 25, 30, 40, and 50-point wins in a single season in NBA history.
Put that way, it’s hard to argue with this.
And even though their detractors might not like to hear this, the 2023-24 Celtics are, indeed, an all-time great team.
