The Boston Celtics went through a lot to reach the mountaintop.
It had been sixteen years since they last won an NBA championship, and they lost the ring just a couple of years ago.
That’s why it was so heartwarming to see Al Horford finally get over the hump.
With that in mind, Jayson Tatum took to Instagram with some high praise for the Dominican, making a Hall of Fame case for him (via Daniel Donabedian).

Truth be told, that wouldn’t be that far-fetched to think.
While his numbers aren’t particularly impressive, Horford was a major contributor to two NCAA championships, has made it to five All-Star teams, and is now an NBA champion.
Horford’s impact has always gone beyond the stat sheet, and the way he’s defied Father Time to stay relevant is nothing short of impressive.
He puts his body on the line on every possession and is an elite defender, even at his age.
He adapted his offensive game to modern basketball by expanding his range, and his playmaking and basketball IQ are superior to those of most power forwards.
Horford does all the little things it takes to win basketball games, and he’s one of the most respected figures in any locker room around the league.
It seems uncertain whether that will be enough to make it to the Hall of Fame, but it wouldn’t be crazy to think that the Celtics could hang his No. 42 jersey in the rafters once it’s all said and done.
