Years ago, Jaylen Brown’s teacher told him he would be in prison one day; now, he’s an NBA champion.
Brown has come a long way from his early days in Georgia, putting the hard work in both academics and sports, and he’s now the highest-paid player in NBA history — for now — and the reigning NBA Finals MVP.
Clearly, it’s been a great year for the Boston Celtics star.
That’s why he finally took a moment to soak it all in and show his emotions, sharing a beautiful picture of him and his mother after winning the NBA championship (via Daniel Donabedian).

Brown was the centerpiece in trade talks for years.
He was often pointed to as the odd man out and the Robin to Jayson Tatum’s Batman, but he kept his head down, kept doing his job, and didn’t let any of that get in the way of his relationship with his co-star.
He was mocked and ridiculed for his team’s constant shortcomings, and critics questioned why the Celtics would make him the highest-paid player in the league with that contract extension.
But instead of going at people or keeping receipts, he allowed his game to do the talking for him, excelling on both ends of the floor and proving to be one of the best in business.
NBA players and professional athletes are human beings first and foremost, and props to Brown for the way he’s handled the pressure and how he’s continued to grind to get to the point he is at right now.
