After crushing the competition in the Eastern Conference during the NBA playoffs, only losing two games throughout the first three rounds of the postseason, the Boston Celtics went on to dominate Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals.
Despite getting blown out in Game 4 of the Finals, the Celtics were able to take down the Mavericks with relative ease to win an NBA record 18th title for the franchise, breaking the tie for the most in league history with the arch-rival Los Angeles Lakers.
With the Celtics winning another title and potentially setting up a dominant run in the coming years, Brad Stevens and company will get back to work immediately, with the 2024 NBA Draft underway this week, followed by the start of NBA free agency.
The Celtics have arguably one of the best rosters in the league with great scorers like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, along with elite defenders like Jrue Holiday and Derrick White, but the team needs to maintain their depth, which might’ve taken a blow on Sunday.
According to Keith Smith of Spotrac, Oshae Brissett has declined his $2.5 million player option in hopes of signing a long-term deal this summer via Evan Sidery of Forbes.

Unlike the players mentioned above, Brissett is not a game-changer for the Celtics, so there’s a good chance that the team will let him walk in free agency, as the team potentially prioritizes bringing in another option.
In 55 games with Boston, Brissett averaged 3.7 points and 2.9 rebounds per game, shooting 44.4% from the floor and 27.3% from beyond the arc.
