The Boston Celtics are once again NBA champions.

The team captured it’s record-breaking 18th NBA championship earlier this month after they defeated the Dallas Mavericks 4-1 in the NBA Finals.

While many pundits and former players have said their piece about the job done by the players and coaches, Celtics legend Kevin McHale had this to say about the job done by his former team:

“I thought they matured a lot…They just played flow basketball. I was so happy and proud of those guys,” McHale recently said on SiriusXM NBA Radio.

Nobody knows more about winning championships in Boston than McHale.

After all, the NBA legend won three titles with the Celtics in the 1980s.

In that interview, McHale was mostly talking about the All-Star duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

Those two have been teammates for the last seven seasons.

Up until this month, they were still fighting for an opportunity to breakthrough and win a championship.

Together, they guided this team on a dominant playoff run.

The team went 16-3 in the postseason after going 64-18 in the regular season.

By those standards, this was one of the great seasons by any team in recent memory.

Brown was named Finals MVP after his best postseason run yet.

He averaged a career-high 23.9 PPG in this year’s playoffs and was the go-to option in the Finals.

Tatum, a five-time All-Star and now a champion, is on his way to possibly having a Basketball Hall of Fame career thanks to this latest chapter.

These two should continue to keep the Celtics in the running for the Larry O’Brien Trophy for years to come.
