When Joe Mazzulla became the head coach for the Boston Celtics, some people worried that he wouldn’t have what it takes to lead the team.
But Celtics executive Brad Stevens always had faith in Mazzulla and spoke about that with Pat McAfee.
In an interview with McAfee, Stevens said that Mazzulla is amazing in the locker room and not afraid to challenge people.
Plus, Mazzulla “has the stamina to work” and never stops thinking about how to get better.

Stevens states that Mazzulla always has his mind on the game.
Even during summer break, he is hard at work trying to make himself better and do more for the team.
Stevens said that even though the Celtics just won a championship, their coach is already thinking of next season and preparing for what’s ahead.
Mazzulla used to be the team’s assistant coach but was thrust into the spotlight when Ime Udoka was suspended and then ultimately fired by the Celtics.
That was a huge promotion for Mazzulla and some people may have cracked under the pressure.
But he did the opposite and helped the team thrive even more.
He built upon the foundation that was set by Stevens and Udoka and led the Celtics to their first championship in years.
Throughout his time coaching and running the Celtics, Stevens has shown he has a brilliant basketball mind and will always make the right decision.
His choice to promote Mazzulla was questioned by some but, once again, it has paid off and proved that Stevens knows what he’s doing.
Stevens was right to hire Mazzulla and now it’s time to see if the Celtics can win back-to-back championships.
