Everyone assumed the Boston Celtics would work hard to retain Derrick White this summer but few people knew how much he’d get paid.
Now the specifics of the deal with White have been revealed and he is receiving an eye-popping amount.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, White has agreed to a four-year, $125.9 million contract extension with the Celtics.
Most Celtics fans agree that is money well spent.

White was a major part of the team’s success all season, including during their successful championship run.
He averaged 15.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 5.2 assists in 2023-24 and dominated on both ends of the court.
Not only is White a terrific shooter with a 46.1% field goal percentage, but he’s also a wonderful lock-down defender who can take on opponents who are sometimes much bigger than him.
White is a pivotal part of the team and a player who is greatly valued by other stars, the fans, and the front office.
Therefore, it was assumed he’d get a tremendous deal from the Celtics so the news of this hefty contract isn’t surprising at all.
Because they are reigning champions, the Celtics are eager to keep the team together in the new season.
They want to enter next season with the exact same roster that brought them their 18th championship banner.
Securing White was one of their biggest priorities in the summer and they didn’t take long to give him the sort of contract he deserves.
The Celtics will probably look the same when 2024-25 kicks off which makes them odds-on favorites to win back-to-back championships.
