The Boston Celtics are still riding high after winning their 18th championship only weeks ago.
But just because they are doing better than they have in years doesn’t mean big changes aren’t coming.
In fact, Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Celtics’ majority ownership group, led by Wyc Grousbeck, is planning to make the franchise available for sale.
The investment group bought the team back in 2002 but if the price is right they could be selling it soon.

This is a major change for the Celtics and a surprising one too.
One would think that the investment group would want to keep the Celtics, especially since they are once again the best team in the NBA.
But this might be the perfect time to sell because the value might not ever be higher.
If the group goes through with a sale, the Celtics could be the most expensive purchase in professional sports history.
Fans can expect to hear an astronomical figure if the group really does sell the Celtics.
It is important to note that this doesn’t mean that the day-to-day operations of the team will be different.
In fact, any group that does buy the Celtics wouldn’t want to see many changes.
Instead, they would want them to just continue normally without adjustments because of new ownership.
It’s unlikely that a new general manager or coach would be installed if a sale occurs and the Celtics will likely look the same in the season ahead.
This is still a big deal and might set a new gold standard when it comes to the value of an NBA team.
