Jayson Tatum is sitting on top of the world.
The 26-year-old led the Boston Celtics to their 18th world championship in franchise history with a five-game bullying of the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals.
Tatum’s leadership was evident throughout the championship series, as he averaged 22.2 points per game, 7.8 rebounds, and 7.2 assists.
And now, he is set to sign the richest player contract in league history.
The Athletic reported that the All-NBA star is finalizing the details of a super-maximum contract extension that will pay him $314 million over five seasons.
The deal will run through the 2029-30 season and is currently the largest in NBA history.

The contract reportedly includes a player option and trade kicker.
There was little doubt that Tatum’s future was in Boston, as he joins fellow wing Jaylen Brown to form perhaps the best tandem in the NBA.
The 6-9 forward was taken with the third selection by the Celtics in the 2017 NBA draft, and his progression to superstar status is well-noted around the sport.
Along the way, Tatum was selected for the All-Star game five times and is a four-time All-NBA selection.
His honors further include being named First Team All-NBA after each of the last three campaigns.
The world champions will be a formidable team for years to come and have the hallmarks of a dynasty in the making.
All five starters who cut down the nets last month against Dallas are now under contract at least through the 2025-26 season, and this latest signing only spells more trouble for other championship contenders.
