The Boston Celtics are the reigning NBA champions and have the most stacked roster in the league right now.
That’s why their prospects of getting the No. 1 or No. 2 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft are pretty close to none.
That’s not like back in the day when teams like the Los Angeles Lakers had the luxury of adding Magic Johnson to a championship-caliber roster already.
Nonetheless, it seems like Cooper Flagg would absolutely love to have an opportunity to play for the Celtics.
Recently, during his scrimmages against Team USA ahead of the Olympics, the Montverde Academy star admitted that he looks up to Jayson Tatum (via SLAM Online, Duke Basketball & Daniel Donabedian).
New England native Cooper Flagg has said he looks up to former Duke star Jayson Tatum.
Celtics would obviously love a homegrown talent like Flagg, but he’s probably a top-2 pick at the very least

Notably, Flagg is a native of New England, so chances are he grew up rooting for the Celtics.
Still, as we mentioned earlier, Joe Mazzulla might only be able to dream about pairing him with Jaylen Brown and Tatum, as there’s just no way they would be able to get him in the NBA Draft.
For years, Flagg has been considered to be the top player in his class and one of the most polished prospects in NBA history.
He gave Team USA plenty of trouble and should be the top-ranked prospect in college next season.
Just like Tatum, he’s likely to play just one season for the Duke Blue Devils before taking his talents to the league, and for now at least, he’ll have to settle for competing against the player he looks up to.
