For the last several years, Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics has been in every discussion about the best NBA players around.

With that being said, some people have questioned his greatness, claiming that he’s not as good as he needs to be.

Others have even said he’s not one of the most elite players in the league right now and isn’t a strong team leader.

Speaking on Tuesday’s “Undisputed,” Keyshawn Johnson stated his opinion, saying the debate around Tatum is over now that he’s an NBA champion.

“If he goes down as one of the greatest, what other box does he have to check?” Johnson asked.

Tatum already had a plethora of NBA honors before his team won the Larry O’Brien trophy last month.

But now that he’s an official champion, people can no longer state that Tatum isn’t the real deal, according to Johnson.

They have to accept that he’s one of the best players around, despite the criticisms.

And when it comes to being the team’s leader, Johnson believes that Tatum has claimed that title too.

He thinks that he is Boston’s “Batman,” a role that was given to him by his teammates years ago.

While Jaylen Brown may have won Finals MVP in June, Johnson still believes that Tatum is the team’s most important player and will be their centerpiece moving forward.

The debate around Tatum will likely continue for years to come but no one can deny that he has reached a level of NBA greatness that all players strive for.

It’s become much harder to say that Tatum isn’t a truly special star now that he’s earned a championship ring.
