The Boston Celtics were so close to capping off their incredible season with a sweep in the NBA Finals.
The Dallas Mavericks came out to play and make sure that the series headed back to Boston, giving them a chance to win in front of their own fans.
And while that was clearly great for the frenzy environment and whatnot, it seems like Jayon Tatum would’ve rather seen things happen differently.
In a recent interview with Tommy Alter for The Old Man & The Three, he admitted that he actually wanted to win the ring in Dallas.
He explained that as great as it was to win at the TD Garden, he had experienced what it was like to have another team celebrate on their own court.
.@jaytatum0 would have preferred to win the 2024 Finals in Dallas.

He wanted to get that experience back, adding that watching the Golden State Warriors celebrating there back in 2022 was simply devastating.
At least he got to experience what it was like to win an NBA championship, regardless of the conditions or where it took place.
The Celtics’ championship was a long time coming, and Tatum had been heavily scrutinized for not being able to put the team on his shoulders in the playoffs in the same way he’s done in the regular season.
Now, even if some will continue to mock him for not winning Finals MVP, no one can take away that NBA championship from him, and it might definitely not be his last one.
