The Boston Celtics finally ended their title drought when they captured the 2024 NBA championship after beating the Dallas Mavericks in five games.
The Celtics were the favorites throughout the 2023-24 NBA season, and they made good on their potential as they were one of the most consistent squads on both ends of the floor.
Although Boston drew some flak for having an easy path to the Finals, that was out of their control and they simply beat the teams that were in front of them.
While Jaylen Brown wound up taking 2024 Finals MVP honors after a brilliant series against Dallas, Jayson Tatum was right there with him in terms of production.
Tatum was the best player on the Celtics during the year, and finally got the title that’s eluded him since coming to the NBA.
Tatum came close to his first title in 2022 and he opened up about what losing to the Golden State Warriors meant to him via 7PM in Brooklyn.
“In the moment it was tough, but I feel like now I realize maybe I had to go through it,” Tatum said. “I had to go to the Finals and lose and figure out what I could’ve done better and what I wasn’t doing well enough.”

It’s a common story arc in the NBA where a superstar gets to the Finals and loses, and Tatum was the recent player to follow this path.
However, now that he’s got his first ring it’ll be interesting to see if he can add to his collection once the 2024-25 campaign tips off.
