While the 2024 Summer Olympics aren’t over yet, some preparations have already been made for Team USA men’s basketball’s attempt to win the gold medal at the 2028 Summer Games.
Former NBA star Grant Hill is the managing director of Team USA men’s basketball, and he’s already talking about decisions he will make to help make sure the United States wins the gold in Los Angeles four years from now.
While on the “All The Smoke” podcast, he said he will consider Boston Celtics All-Star Jaylen Brown, who was snubbed this year, for the 2028 roster.
Grant Hill responds to the criticisms and controversies surrounding USA Basketball’s roster construction.

Weeks ago, the Los Angeles Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard withdrew from Team USA to prepare for the upcoming NBA season, and thus, the United States needed to find a suitable replacement.
Many felt Brown was the most suitable replacement, but instead, the squad went with teammate Derrick White.
The argument in favor of White is that any winning basketball team needs a number of supporting and complementary players who don’t need to be a primary scoring threat and will contribute in other areas.
Brown averaged 23.0 points a game and was named to his third All-Star team this past season, and he won the NBA Finals MVP award as Boston won their 18th world championship just weeks ago.
A few big-time stars on this year’s version of Team USA may not suit up for it in four years, and thus, it may need Brown to be one of its primary scoring threats in order to win it all again.
