A lot of NBA fans have been asking the same thing during the 2024 Paris Olympics: Where is Jayson Tatum?
Tatum hasn’t gotten a lot of time on the court during the big games and sat out of the entirety of the semifinal game against Serbia.
According to Team USA head coach Steve Kerr, it has nothing to do with Tatum or how he plays but is all a matter of “math.”
Speaking with Tim Reynolds, per NBACentral, Kerr said, “It’s not about anything Jayson is doing or not doing. It’s just about combinations and the way that group has played together, the way Kevin [Durnat] has filled in since he came back from his injury. It’s just a math problem more than anything.”

Kerr has made this point multiple times before.
He has said that Tatum isn’t playing a lot simply because there are so many great stars on the roster.
Plus, the return of Durant after his injury shook things up in a big way and created less space for Tatum.
Still, many people are questioning why Tatum has been missing entire games while others like Derrick White, Jrue Holiday and Anthony Edwards continue to get time.
Tatum is a proven star who is fresh off his first NBA championship.
He’s a major player and a great talent and deserves more than a spot on the bench.
It’s hard for some Boston Celtics fans to not assume Kerr is secretly holding a grudge against Tatum or doesn’t want him there.
The Americans have one more game and Tatum may or may not play again.
No matter what happens, people will always question Kerr’s decisions related to the Celtics star.
