Team USA is on to the gold-medal game at the 2024 Paris Olympics after a dramatic 95-91 victory against Serbia in the semifinals.

While the likes of LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant have been making massive contributions to the squad, one star NBA player has not been doing that because he hasn’t been given much playing time by head coach Steve Kerr.

That player is Boston Celtics five-time All-Star and reigning NBA champion Jayson Tatum.

One of the best players in the world, Tatum hasn’t gotten playing time due to the likes of James and Durant dominating minutes.

Tatum’s mother recently spoke out about her son not playing enough.

“No, he’s not (injured). But if you find out what’s going on, please let me know — unacceptable and makes no sense,” Brandy Cole said, via Legion Hoops.

The four-time All-NBA performer was also a member of the team that won gold in the previous Tokyo Olympics.

So, it isn’t like he is a rookie or an unproven player who hasn’t shown anybody anything.

The reason he hasn’t played a ton during this tournament is because of the veterans in James, Durant, Curry and even Celtics teammate Jrue Holiday.

Those players have dominated the ball-handling and shooting.

Also, this tournament comes down to matchups, and for Kerr, it hasn’t felt right putting Tatum in the lineup next to or instead of James and Durant.

This isn’t a slight toward Tatum, but Kerr simply trusts the older guys more than he does the 26-year-old.
