Over the past few years, the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat have become a budding rivalry, with Jimmy Butler and company being a playoff spoiler for the storied franchise.
Last year, Butler and his squad were able to do the seemingly impossible by earning a playoff spot through the Play-In Tournament and making it all the way to the NBA Finals, pulling off upset after upset in the Eastern Conference during the postseason.
The Heat were the eighth seed in the East and looked more like the top seed as they crushed the completion on their way to face Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets in the Finals.
In the Eastern Conference Finals last year, the red-hot Heat were dominating the Celtics until Jayson Tatum and his squad started to fight back and make it a series leading to an epic Game 7, but Boston fell short.
Now that the Celtics are NBA champions once again after beating the Dallas Mavericks recently, Tatum seems to have forgotten how tough the Heat were during these playoff battles and said something he might regret next season and beyond via NBA Central.
“They’re always easy,” Tatum said.

Scalabrine: “You guys have been on a lot of hard-fought trips to Miami, was this one a little sweeter?”
Tatum: “They’re always easy.”

There’s no question that the Celtics are currently considered to be the best all-around team in the NBA and potentially the team to beat in the league for the next half-decade or so.
However, the last thing Boston wants to do is give more fuel to a team like Miami that feeds off of that kind of thing, and that’s precisely what Tatum has done with these regrettable comments.
