One of the key Boston Celtics players from last season was former All-Star big man Kristaps Porzingis.
Porzingis battled through injuries in the postseason to help guide the Celtics to their 18th league championship.
Some of the injuries that he battled through in the NBA Finals were a torn retinaculum and a dislocated posterior tibialis tendon.
Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens, according to insider Ryen Russillo, recently said that Porzingis will miss the start of next season most likely due to the surgery that he will receive for both injuries.

If every Boston Celtics fan was told that they’d win the title this year but lose Porzingis for the start of next season, they would definitely take it.
The Latvian big man is a key player for them but with the plethora of stars that this team has, they can stay afloat without him.
Porzingis has had somewhat of an injury history in the NBA, and that is putting it lightly.
The most games that he has played in a season is 72, which came in his rookie season with the New York Knicks in 2015-16.
When he is on the floor, he is one of the most dangerous players in the game because he is so versatile.
The 7-2 star has averaged over 20.0 points per game, over 5.0 rebounds per game, and over 1.5 blocks per game in six of his nine NBA seasons.
Look for the Boston Celtics to really kick things up a notch when he returns at some point next season.
