Kristaps Porzingis of the Boston Celtics just won his first championship and is now enjoying a summer full of rest and relaxation.

It’ll also be a summer of recovery, according to the Celtics.

On Thursday morning, the team announced, per Justin Turpin, that Porzingis had a successful surgery to repair a torn retinaculum and dislocated tibialis tendon.

Porzingis is expected to return to the court in about five to six months and more updates will be provided by the team along the way.

While it’s good that Porzingis just had a successful and healing surgery, it sounds like he won’t be ready to play at the start of next season.

If he follows the predicted recovery time, he should be suiting up around November or December, weeks into the 2024-25 season.

That isn’t great news for the Celtics, but they have every reason to believe they’ll still be the best team in the league.

Even without Porzingis, the Celtics still thrived throughout the season.

He was gone for most of the playoffs and they remained the strongest squad in the postseason and sailed to the Finals.

With that being said, they are always better when Porzingis is healthy and on the court.

Unfortunately, the big man’s long history with injuries continues to grow.

Thankfully, his team still won a championship and Porzingis was able to help a lot.

Now he has to take a lot of time off so he can assist his team in fighting for back-to-back championships next year.

Injuries are never good and it’ll be too bad if he can’t start next season with his team but at least the majority of Porzingis’ recovery time is coming during the summer.
