The Boston Celtics finally got over the hump.
It had been more than 15 years since the winningest franchise in the NBA had hoisted the Larry O’Brien trophy, and that was despite having some very good teams and multiple chances.
Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown had drawn plenty of criticism for not being able to get the job done, even though they were still very young players.
The Celtics were the odds-on favorites to win the whole thing last season since the preseason.
In all honesty, it was hard to argue with that, as they had added two major pieces in Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday.
With that in mind, Tatum was asked whether he knew they were going to win a championship as soon as they landed Holiday (via The Old Man & The Three).

Tatum laughingly thanked the Milwaukee Bucks, stating that he didn’t know how they even let that happen.
Then, he claimed that even though a lot had to go their way for them to win a championship, he was very confident about his chances because of Jrue.
They had already won a gold medal together, so he knew what he was all about and what he brought to the table, so he clearly gave him plenty of confidence about finally being able to take care of business.
Fast forward to today, and Holiday’s impact on that championship is now more than evident, so Celtics fans clearly have to be very thankful to the Milwaukee Bucks organization.
