The United States Olympic Team was faced with the difficult decision of replacing Kawhi Leonard.
Leonard stepped away from the team to focus on himself ahead of the 2024-2025 NBA Season, leaving a spot open on their roster.
After much deliberation, Derrick White was chosen to round out the team, a decision that has been met with split reactions.
On one hand, fans have understood that Team USA was looking for another point guard to add to the mix, and a player like White could certainly fill that role nicely for them.
On the other, analysts like Adam Schein and other disgruntled fans have questioned the validity of this move, wondering why another player was not chosen.
Schein talked about this in a recent segment of Mad Dog Radio, voicing his opinion on this questionable move, at least in his eyes.
Shein said, “Derrick White is the replacement. What is this, amateur hour? Why don’t they just give away a roster spot?”

Schein indicated that this roster spot could have gone to White’s teammate, Jaylen Brown, who proved to be one of the best players in the league last season.
Brown was a big reason for the Celtics’ run to the finals and has been given the title of “superstar” by many well-respected names in the industry.
Despite Brown’s success, Team USA went with White to replace Leonard.
It will only be a matter of time before fans find out if this was a good decision, or if a major mistake was made.
