Jaylen Brown can finally say he has nothing left to prove after he led the Boston Celtics to the 2024 NBA Championship.
Brown and the Celtics took care of the Dallas Mavericks in five games, but before that ran through the Eastern Conference with relative ease.
The star wing made good on the five-year max deal he signed with Boston the previous offseason as he took home Eastern Conference Finals MVP honors as well as Finals MVP.
Arguably no player had a better year than Brown, though he was left off the Team USA roster in favor of his teammates Jayson Tatum and Jrue Holiday.
Making matters more confusing, though, is that Derrick White was chosen over him to replace Kawhi Leonard after he withdrew from the roster.
The decision to have White over Brown was confusing for most people, including Terrell Owens who said he wants to understand the decision better via Yahoo Sports.
“I have no idea, I want to get to the bottom of it just like he does,” Owens said. “How can you be the Eastern Conference Finals MVP and the Finals MVP and then just leapfrogged over? No disrespect to a teammate Derrick White, but how do you leapfrog over him? Yeah, I don’t understand.”

On paper, Brown is the more talented player compared to White and seems like a one-to-one replacement for Leonard given his size.
However, one can argue that White is a better fit because he doesn’t need the ball in his hands to be effective.
Regardless, Team USA should be just fine with its current roster as it looks to take home the gold again.
