Big news hit the basketball world when six-time All-Star Kawhi Leonard left the Team USA roster ahead of this summer’s Paris Olympics due to a knee injury.

Team USA decided to bring on yet another Celtic player to fill the void.

However, it was guard Derrick White and not forward Jaylen Brown like a lot of people thought it would be.

NBA analyst Amin Elhassan wonders why forward Jayson Tatum has not reached out to Brown after he wasn’t chosen.

“This is leadership 101…It is your responsibility to reach out to him,” Elhassan recently said on SiriusXM NBA Radio.

Tatum and Brown have been together for seven seasons in Boston.

They have won a lot of games and recently became champions this past season.

Perhaps Tatum hasn’t reached out to the NBA Finals MVP because they have a strong bond and both know that everything is all good.

Or, Tatum just hasn’t decided to do that because he doesn’t care enough to do so.

Regardless, it is odd that he has not reached out to his teammate.

However, what might be even more odd is Team USA going with Derrick White over Jaylen Brown.

Brown is a three-time All-Star and was the team’s best player in the playoffs this past year (23.9 PPG).

White isn’t even a go-to option on his own team.

In any event, head coach Steve Kerr must feel like the team is pretty stacked already, and White is just a depth piece.

Still, this whole event is a peculiar one from multiple angles.
