The Boston Celtics are coming off their 18th championship in franchise history.
They defeated the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals to take home the Larry O’Brien Trophy for the first time since 2008.
Whenever a team wins a title in any sport, the next thought that is brought up is whether or not they can do it again.
NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, who ended his storied career with the Celtics, recently joined “SportsCenter” to share his thoughts on whether or not Boston can repeat.
“If they remain hungry, they’re definitely going to be dangerous,” O’Neal said.

The 15-time All-Star and four-time NBA champion also looked at the other side of the coin as he referenced great players in the Eastern Conference such as Damian Lillard, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Joel Embiid, who each dealt with injuries in the 2024 playoffs.
Additionally, the Philadelphia 76ers added nine-time All-Star Paul George to their equation, and the New York Knicks traded for impressive shooting guard Mikal Bridges.
The rivals of the Celtics are getting better and healthier this offseason, which is why Boston’s quest to repeat as champions might not be so easy.
However, since Joe Mazzulla has been the head coach, the Celtics have dominated.
The team has won almost 74 percent of its regular season games over the past two seasons under Mazzulla, and they were 64-18 this past season.
Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are one of the league’s best duos, with Jrue Holiday arguably the league’s best defensive point guard.
Even with other teams getting better, the Celtics don’t appear to be going anywhere.
