Because they are reigning NBA champions, the Boston Celtics aren’t looking to make many changes to their roster.

But they still have to fill it out and want to have 15 players ready to go for next season.

Speaking with Noa Dalzell, President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens spoke about how he wishes to fill the final roster spot in Boston.

Speaking about forward Oshae Brissett, Stevens said he would love to see more of the star but also has to be “respectful” of his desire to play more.

“Oshae had a terrific year with us, not only when he got the opportunity on the court as a teammate and as a person. Obviously, in his shoes, there might be a desire to play more. I always want to be respectful of that,” Steven said.

Brissett opted out of his contract before free agency kicked off in June, meaning he may never play for the Celtics again if another team scoops him up.

Last season, he produced 3.7 points and 2.9 rebounds per game during his 55 appearances for the Celtics.

He was clearly a reserve player in Boston and only started in one game.

As referenced by Stevens, Brissett might want to move to a team that will give him more time and attention.

Additionally, Stevens and his staff may not rush to fill this last roster spot.

In fact, they kept the 15th spot open until April last season, so they could sit tight for some time.

Stevens is clearly fond of Brissett and would love to see him stick around in Boston but he is going to approach this last roster spot strategically.
