Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla knows his team will have to fight hard for another championship, and he’s ready for it.
Talking with John Karalis, per Savage on X, Mazzulla said, “People are gonna say the target is on our back, but I hope it’s right on our forehead between our eyes, I hope I can see the red dot.”
He’s clearly not afraid of the challenges that await him and his team but will he regret making this statement?

Everyone knows that a team receives more attention after winning a championship.
Not only does the media dissect every single mistake and misstep, but other teams in the league have a goal to beat them.
The Celtics have it extra tough because they had been one of the best teams in the league for years before their recent title run.
They were already receiving a ton of criticism for every single mistake.
Now they will be in the spotlight even more and all other teams will be motivated to take down the reigning champions.
There is no doubt that the Celtics will have more competition in 2024-25.
Some teams, like the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers, have made strong trades in the summer.
Meanwhile, other teams, like the Cleveland Cavaliers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Miami Heat, are now healthier and ready to compete harder.
The Celtics should be prepared for an exhausting and formidable season.
Mazzulla is ready for the fight and isn’t afraid of other teams angling to take his Celtics down.
